It seems like there is one tragic hair incident at some point in every family. (Mine was cutting Monica Streeter's hair when I was little. I had to go tell her mom, and all I remember was that she was mad! I really don't remember how old I was, but old enough to know better.) This afternoon while vacuuming our toy room I found a pile of brown hair on the floor. I didn't think much about it because recently I've found little piles of My Little Pony hair around the room periodically. Knowing this is Alyssa's doing, I've reminded her several times that we just cut paper not hair. She's always been pretty responsible with the kid scissors other than this little issue lately. That should have been my first clue that we were "headed" for a problem, literally. When I looked down at the brown hair next to the horse barn, I thought to myself, "Oh no, she's gotten to the play horses too." I bent down to throw it away, and to my surprise found real hair. What's sad is I hadn't even noticed when doing Alyssa's hair! Then in a moment of realization, I thought of today when I was trying to put her hair into two little pony tails on top of her head. One side seemed to have some broken off pieces of hair that were fraying out gradually throughout the day. I hadn't thought much of it because she has hairs like this everywhere because her hair is so fine. Little did I know this was the site of the tragedy. Upon questioning Alyssa, I found out it didn't even happen today! I think. . .it was yesterday. What a sad commentary on the fact that my daughter could cut her hair, and I wouldn't even notice for a day. Fortunately with her shorter hairdo these days I think it will just mean no ponytails for a while.

I had the same experience a few months ago...Matthew was pretending to be g-ma (my mom) and cut Tylers hair. It was while I was at the store I get a phone call...it was John asking if I thought my mom could give Ty a haircut. He had just had one so I knew something was up. At the time I wasnt so happy about it but now I laugh when I think of them playing "g-ma" :)
Oh my...I am laughing at that. I think it's a right of passage. I'm just waiting for our turn at our house. I just saw Alyssa this morning and didn't even notice. I guess that's a good thing. ;0)
One benefit of having boys....too short to experiment like that.
Opps...I can't believe you cut Monica's hair. As a mom that would be one of my worst nightmares to find out one of my girls cut somebody else's hair. I would feel horrible.
