Crazy Hair Day

The girls almost never have wanted to participate in crazy hair day at school when they have it.  This year Alyssa was excited about this idea she heard of from a friend.  We miraculously had the time to pull it off in the morning and it stayed the whole day.  The secret is there is an empty water bottle inside that helps it hold the shape.  The bows were to add to the craziness but also to hold all the little strands of hair that kept falling out.  I thought she looked great!

Mackenzie's 1st Grade Field Trip to P-6 Farms

Kira and I were able to join Mackenzie on her field trip.  We had a great time hanging out even though we didn't really get to stay with Mackenzie's group too much.

Dining Room Remodel

We decided to update our dining room since it needed a fresh coat of paint anyway and has been dying for a remodel.  I loved the look of stenciling one accent wall that I have seen lately in some model homes in the area.  It took about 9 hours to paint over the course of a Friday and Saturday.  The process itself was pretty easy once I got the hang of it.  The trick is to practice on poster board first and then use very light coats of paint to go over the pattern several times.  I also used a stencil spray adhesive to help adhere the stencil to the wall so that there was less leakage.  We love how it turned out.  We painted the other walls a similar color to the one already there and later added curtains and a painting.  I call it my Chinese inspired room.

Haircut at Sweet & Sassy

This little girls was due for a trim so I took her to Sweet & Sassy, an all girls hair salon.  She did not like the idea of someone cutting her hair, but Frozen playing on the TV in front of her seemed to help sooth the pain.

 She also got a sucker during the cut. 

Glitter on the cheek and in the hair and another sucker after.  In the end it wasn't too bad!

 

A Day in the Life of Kira

I thought I'd just post a few pictures of when Kira and I hang out.  This day was beautiful in October and Kira loves riding her little princess bike around.  This girl is growing up too quickly!  I can't believe my little baby is going to be 3 in one month.

She pretends there is a dragon in the sewer and she likes to pick grass blades and "feed" them to him through the holes. 

I loved this one because it captures her soft sweetness.  She's so loving and cuddly. 

Storybook Parade

Alyssa and Mackenzie were both excited for the Storybook Parade again this year. 

Alyssa was Madelyn Hatter from one of her favorite book series Ever After High.  This was also her Halloween costume. 

 Here's Kira waiting for the parade to start.  She had to get dressed up in her Halloween costume which was Sophia the First. 

Mackenzie wanted to be a Blue Butterfly this year for Halloween so we found a book about butterflies and called it goo.  I made the tulle skirt and we ordered on-line some big fabric wings that fit around her hands.  Gotta love her pose!
