Party Puppy Style!

Tori's birthday was kind of celebrated at various times this year. We went to dinner on Saturday before her birthday and she had to wait until this weekend to have her Puppy party with her friends. Even though she's 9 she was still so excited for it. Tori's very creative and we've been putting our heads together for fun activities to do at her party. It was a fun filled night. We invited 6 of her friends for pizza and rootbeer. Each girl was asked to bring a small puppy stuffed animal. After dinner each of the girls got a white box that they decorated to be their dog carrier. I love the creativity of girls this age. They glued and glittered, colored and adorned every side of those little carriers. Then we made little collars with beads and chenille stems complete with a little dog tag for their furry friends. Each girl then went to the various places to pamper their pooch. (Tori helped make the signs. I love the detail and pictures she drew on each one. First stop was the . . .

. . . Puppy Palace Salon (notice the pictures of combs, brushes, perfume, jewels etc.) where the girls bathed, brushed and pampered their pets. They also each got a little kit to make a mini tutu for their little pets.

The red tote on the side is a bathtub with glass craft beads for the bubbles. Tori's idea.

Next stop was the. . .
. . . Vet Clinic to make sure the puppies were in good health. After having a thorough check up, each puppy got a little dog bowl and fleece blanket that they made for thier puppies.

Finally it was off to the. . .

. . . Tail Waggin' Dog Show. Each girl took her pet through an obstacle course where they jumped through hula hoops, balanced on a ball, and slid down a slide. At the end each puppy got to do a special trick. The esteemed canine judges (Ben and I) evaluated each pooch and gave an mini trophy to each girl for something special about their dog. Then it was time to open presents, have cake and ice cream and we finished the night watching Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Each girl took home some "puppy chow" chex mix to munch on as well. I've looked at several web-sites for ideas for parties and some are so fancy and frilly with very cute perfectly coordinated decorations, but I love our homemade decorations and made up activities. Wouldn't change those fun memories with my girls for the world!
Happy Birthday Tori!
