San Antonio Trip

We decided to take a quick weekend trip to San Antonio last weekend. It's an amazing city with so much history. You really could take several trips to San Antonio and experience different things each time. We visited here about 7 years ago when we came to watch my brother, Erik's, graduation from basic training. Since we saw the Alamo on our previous trip, this time we visited the San Marcos Outlet mall, the Natural Bridge Caverns, and Sea World.
Driving the remote control boats at the outlet mall. Can you tell who wanted to do this instead of shop? (Dad?) Fortunately, no one fell in . . . despite the precarious ledge.

"You're coming aren't you?"

Some of the stalactites and stalagmites. We learned that stalactites cling tightly to the wall and stalagmites grow up from the floor hoping some day they might reach the ceiling. Good way to remember the difference. The trip was a lot of fun and the girls managed really well. We carried Mackenzie in a carrier for most of the hour trip. It was not cool as some caves are, but it was cooler than outside. With the humidity, our guide said it would feel like it was 85 degrees and 99% humidity. Sad when that's a break from the outside temperature!

Outside Sea World before the extreme heat! Mackenzie refused to get close to the Shamu statue.

I thought this was a cute picture. We had an amazing time feeding the dolphins. You could get right up there and fed them these little fish and pet them. The best part of the day.

Shamu "Believe" Show. Despite purposely sitting close in the splash zone, Mackenzie and I were the only ones that got a little water splashed on us. Mackenzie has been telling everyone "whale, big splash." She loved it.
Not many other photos from Sea World. It got really hot and busy, and we learned that to really enjoy Sea World we should visit again another time of year.

This has become one of our favorite things to eat at any hotel we've stayed at in Texas. The first time we encountered the Texas waffle was when Ben and I came house hunting last August. We told the girls about it and they were so excited to see them when we stayed at the same hotel before we moved into our house. We were pleasantly surprised to find them at our hotel continental breakfast in San Antonio as well. I wonder if any other state in the union has a waffle maker in the shape of their state?

The San Antonio Riverwalk. This is an amazing river that runs below street level. It's lined by hotels, restaurants, outdoor theaters and a beautiful walkway. It's filled with beautiful plants and trees. A must see if you visit San Antonio.

Looks like so much fun. I wish I could have gone to sea world. We really miss you guys. Kysha has been talking about her Ben I guess she really misses him. I think it's so cute.

I'm pretty sure that Texas is the only state proud enough of their statehood to make a waffle iron for their hotels. Love it!
