Alyssa's Surgery

November also was a little scary for Alyssa. After going to many doctors and upon the recommendation of our Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, Alyssa had her adnoids removed. We're hopeful this will help her avoid getting all the sicknesses she seems to get. She was a trooper through it all. Ben and I made arrangements for Tori and Mackenzie and were both able to be there for the surgery. They gave her some anesthetic that made her drowsy and then they took her into the operating room where they gave her a stronger anesthetic to put her to sleep. She had her adnoids removed and her maxillary sinuses washed out. The whole procedure only took about 45 mintues. When we got to go see her she was still under the anesthesia but had woken up and was pretty hysterical and crying quite a bit. The nurses said it was very normal for them to be very disoriented at that point. She said she couldn't stop crying. Finally after about 15 minutes she settled down and fell asleep for about 15 minutes. When she woke up she was a completely different person. She was drowsy but more coherent. They gave us some follow up paperwork, and we took her home. She was pretty tired and groggy most of that day. She missed 3 days of school, but after about the 2nd day she was doing fine. She has been really brave through all the needles, bloodwork, and finally the surgery. Here is a picture of her before going in for the surgery holding her very favorite stuffed animal, Blue Bunny.

Go Alyssa. I think is so amazing to see how brave and strong she is. I know it was for me when Erik had a surgury. Wish we could have been there to help out.

I am glad she is doing well. Kolton had that surgery, well with tonsils too. She is so cute, all your girls are. We miss you!
