Washington D.C. - Day 1

This summer we were able to travel to Washington D.C. to visit Uncle Dan and Aunt Jill and family. Ethan was being baptized and our new baby cousin, Landry, was blessed. It was so special to be there for these two occassions. We managed to pack in a lot of sight seeing as well.

We started off our first day with the Natural History Museum.
This is the Hope Diamond.  Tori is sort of faking being nervous because she read a story about how the Hope Diamond is supposedly cursed.

 A bunch of hippos!
We saw the new butterfly exhibit they have.  Similar to the one here in Houston where the butterflies are flying all around you.  This was a smaller space so several were landing on dad.
Apparently Kira's cheek looks like a flower.  She didn't even mind for a few seconds.
Alyssa and Mackenzie are looking at the chrysalises.
Since it was only sprinkling and the weather was relatively cool, we decided to make the trek to the White House.  Here we are passing the Washington Monument.  We had 1 umbrella for 6 people.
By the time we got to the White House we were pretty damp. . .and pretty tired.  Tori's ready to pose for a picture though.
By the time we hiked to the other side of the White House, no one was in the mood for a picture.  So. . . mom and dad were the subjects this time.  Not looking the best now from even more rain coming down.  We managed to make it back to the car by bribing the girls with some ice cream. . .

That night Aunt Jill put together a little party for Mackenzie.  This girl is funny because she was so embarrased when we were all singing Happy Birthday to her.

But she loved the cupcakes!
