Tori's 10th Birthday

We also celebrated Tori's birthday a little low key. Tori chose to have an I-pod cake for her 10th birthday and to invite a few friends over to watch a movie. Gone are the little girl days of princess and Dora cakes I guess. I had fun doing this one though too. It's an older version of an I-pod, but it was easier to represent than the I-pod Nano that is out now. It's a tiny little square with a touch screen. Tori is definitely growing bigger and enjoying things like music, lip gloss and fingernail polish. My how quickly 10 years goes by! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital.

Sorry for the blurry picture. These girls were so giggly but fun friends.
Things We Love About Tori:
1. She's a leader among her peers and is always the one deciding the game or running the activity.
2. She has an amazing imagination. When she was little it used to cause her to have bad dreams and sleeping problems. Now it helps her make up fun games and write creative stories.
3. She's a smart cookie and consistently gets good grades.
4. She loves to read and devours books faster than we can get them in her hands. She has 2 book clubs she attends with friends and was recently given the "Bookworm" award by her classmates because she is always found reading.
5. A great big sister and helper. Alyssa and Mackenzie and all of their friends for that matter love to play whatever game Tori comes up with. We'll go to a get together with friends, and she'll be found coordinating a game of let's pretend to make a movie, or we're all Cheetah babies or fairies with 10 little kids in tow. It works with boys or girls alike. She'll be a natural and fun babysitter in a few years.
6. Tori tries to strengthen her own testimony by reading the scriptures, praying and writing in her journal. Recently we found quotes from all over in Proverbs on her walls.
7. Artistic. She would disagree, but her imagination leads her to see the world in a very different way. She's always coloring or making pictures of something. She has an "Art Wall" in her room.
8. Her smile and laugh is contagious. She is full of fun and life and energy. We love this girl!
Happy Birthday Tori!

I can't believe she is ten myself. All the wonderful things you said about her make me miss her. I think it is wonderful she likes to read. I can't wait to see her in August.

PS. You did an outstanding job on the cake. Now I think you need to come out here for all our birthdays and do are. So August is the next cute cake b day I need well unless Erik is wanting something cool like that. LOL
