Christmas Day 2012

Christmas morning the girls woke up at their usual 7:00 a.m. ready to open presents.  We like to take video of them coming downstairs so they know to wait by their rooms and call to us when they first wake up.  This year it was Mackenzie and Alyssa up first.  Then Ben turns the video camera, turns the Christmas tree lights on and plays Christmas music, and then they get to come downstairs.  The girls loved opening their presents from family under the tree and were especially anxious to open their presents from one another.  The last few years we've encouraged them to use their allowance to either make or buy something for each other.  Tori was really into it.  She made a "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" coloring book for Mackenzie and a Warriors play board for Alyssa.  Tori loves the Warrior book series and has a foam board painted and decorated to imitate the land the cats live in from the book.  She also made a replica one for Alyssa, and because she adores everything about Tori, she absolutely loves it.  Tori also gave me some Santa ornaments she ordered from Oriental Trading and then assembled.  For Ben she made  a hot chocolate snowman kit.  Alyssa chose to give everyone books this year and loved picking them out for her sisters at the book fair.  She took a lot of thought into picking what she thought each sister would like.  Mackenzie contributed to the Moshi Monster DS games for Tori and Alyssa.  Ben gave me a Silhoette machine and Ben got clothes and new cologne.  We enjoyed a yummy breakfast of cinnamon rolls and played with toys most of the morning.  For Christmas dinner we invited 2 of our friends to come over.  We had ham and turkey with all the usual sides of green beans, salad, mashed potatoes, rolls etc.  Sadly no pics from dinner.  It was a fun day to enjoy being together as a family.

Mackenzie admiring the $4 she got from Santa in her stocking.  One of my favorite parts of the whole day is when they first come downstairs and see the stockings filled, the cookies on the plate gone, and the note from Santa.  This year we even left some reindeer food outside and the reindeer ate all of it!
Kira getting into the action.  She still didn't quite get the fun of ripping the paper, but she was happy to be a part of things.
 Snuggling with dad.
Alyssa's stash.  She got a new bike from Santa.  Some other favorites were a Dollie and Me matching dress set for her and her American girl doll, Bobs pink glitter shoes, Stompeez slippers, manicure set, Warriors board, and a chalk writer for her bike.
Mackenzie got a purple Razor scooter from Santa, a case for her Innotab and 2 new games, Curious George movie, letter learning games, and a Rainbow in My Room light.
Kira got a Busy Ball Bopper from Santa, new clothes and a Baby Einstein DVD.
Tori was very thrilled (can't you see the smile?) to get an I-pod touch from Santa, Tom silver glitter shoes, Stompeez slippers, and a manicure set.
Here is a picture of Alyssa trying out her new bike.  It was about 70 degrees on Christmas!
