Christmas Eve started off with Ben taking the girls to get donuts in their pajamas. It started as a Thanksgiving tradition but has crept over to Christmas Eve as well. The girls love the idea of getting to wear their pajamas out of the house and picking out the donuts with the most sprinkles and frosting. Usually their donut shop of choice is American Donut and this day they didn't disappoint. They came back with this combination donut and donut hole with a little Christmas pick on top which the girls were really excited about. We spent the rest of the day just playing together and hanging out. For dinner we enjoyed Omaha Steaks and twice baked potatoes courtesy of one of Ben's co-workers. We had Fuzzy Ben's, a salad and molten lava cakes (also from Omaha Steaks) for dessert. Yum! (Fuzzy Ben's are a drink Ben made up a long time ago. It's half cranberry juice and half Sprite.) We all look forward to it around the holidays. After dinner we continued our tradition of doing a Christmas Program and keeping our focus on Christ. Tori helped the girls choreograph a dance to "My Favorite Things" and they each performed with her. Then we sang a few Christmas songs, and Alyssa played her piano recital songs. We then watched the Nativity and talked about the story. We finished the night with dessert, and we read the Nativity story from the scriptures. It was a nice quiet evening and the girls seemed to really appreciate the reason we celebrate Christmas. We usually let the girls open one present on Christmas Eve, and this year we decided to let them open their present from Ben: nerf guns. The girls loved them, and they had a great game of war before heading off to bed.

I for one love the donut tradition I totally want to copy that one now if I can just get Erik home for the holidays to do so. I am also glad you explaned the Fuzzy Bens. We do the nurf gun wars all the time. It's a favorite at our house.
