Spelling Bee

In February, Tori was selected to represent her 5th grade home room class in the school spelling bee at Cox Middle School. The kids all took a spelling test and the top speller in each class was picked to go to the school spelling bee.   It's not surprising to us that she's such a great speller because she loves to read.  She was really anxious about it, but with a lot of talking and reassurance she went to it. Each of the kids would stand and be asked to spell a word.  If they got the word wrong, they were out.  Her greatest fear was that she'd be out in the first round and look stupid.  She didn't!  She went several rounds before missing her word.  We were really proud of her and reminded her that she was already a winner even to be picked. We celebrated by going to Culver's for ice cream that night.

Incidentally, she was also picked to be on a science bee team in March.  They got out the first round, but we definitely have a smart cookie here!
