Ben's Surprise 40th Birthday

Ben's mom has surprised his dad for his 40th, 50th and 60th birthdays so far and every time he's been surprised.  For Ben's 40th I knew I wanted to do a surprise party.  We went to a 40th birthday party for friends in Washington at a roller skating rink and dressed 80's one time and Ben has been saying how fun that was ever since.  I knew if I could pull it off, that would be the venue.  So I booked SkateTown, a local rollerskating rink, and invited about 80 people to come dressed in their 80's gear.  I had a friend make a playlist of 80's songs and I bought and made some decorations.  The plan was for the Bishop to need to have Ben come with him to meet with someone and then they were going to get a phone call by a family member pretending they had left something at SkateTown.  Then they were going to run by and pick it up.  Tricky part was I couldn't get ready until Ben left the house and then I was trying  to beat them to SkateTown.  I didn't quite make it.  The Bishop and Ben had walked in before I got there so the surprise is not on video.  We had a great time anyway and funny enough, Ben was really surprised!  We had a great time hanging out with friends and were so glad so many could come celebrate with us.
Everyone got light up bracelets or necklaces.  I used a couple of giant rubix cube decorations from a neighbor's 40th birthday party.
I had pictures of Ben throughout his life on one of the tables as well as a picture mat for everyone to sign.

When he arrived he was in a suit and tie because he had been told that he was going to visit someone with the bishop.  Little did he know I had this nice MC Hammer outfit ready for him.
